AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL OFFICIAL DEFINTION OF A MIGRANT----------------------------------------------------------
"A migrant is a person who leaves his country to live and generally seek work elsewhere, either temporarily or sustainably. For some, this departure is voluntary. Others feel they have no choice, because they experience in their countries of origin of economic difficulties or other problems. Others leave for a variety of reasons.
Shares of Amnesty International, aim to prevent and denounce violations of the rights of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees. They aim to compel states to take the necessary measures to ensure that they are protected." The campaign is organised in two main areas: “¢ A reactive work to prevent referrals of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees to a territory where they would be exposed to violations of their rights. It is often in the field of respect for the right of asylum expressed this mission. “¢ A shot to work situations, in Europe and in the world, endangering the rights of uprooted people. This work covers both the situation of refugees, asylum seekers or migrants, workers or not, and sometimes people displaced within their own country.
UN HIGH COMMISSION FOR REFUGEES COUNTS 300 000 MIGRANTS SINCE JANUARY -------------------------------
Over 300,000 migrants have crossed the Mediterranean since January, and over 2,500 people have died at sea trying to reach Europe, according to the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).---------------------------------------------------------------
The "road of Western Balkans", which probably came the migrants found dead in Austria, is itself especially taken by the Syrians or Iraqis refugees fleeing war but also by Albanians, Kosovars aur Serbs in search of a better life.
Saturday morning, groups of several dozen people continued to cross the border between Greece and Macedonia, according to an AFP journalist on the spot.
